Facial Expressions

Our very last Art piece for term three focussed on facial expressions.  We studied cartoon-like expressions from the internet and then replicated them on four figures.  We were able to choose to colour with pastel or paint or a combination of the two.

Olympics: Shootouts

Our second to last event was Shootouts.  Each team had a set amount of time to shoot as many hoops as possible.

The winning teams were.....

Gold Medal: Jamaica

Silver Medal: USA

Bronze Medal: Greece

Portraits - first 10

We have been exploring the art works of Robyn Kahukiwa.

Mrs Young took a photograph of each member of our class.  Once it was enlarged to A3 we traced our image onto another piece of paper.  We had to pay attention to where the shadows formed on our faces in our photograph.  Using paint, we recreated the shadows to give our faces more detail.

Finally, we filled our background with pieces of advice that have been given to us over the past two years.

Our Visual Art: Sticks

Once again we have an opportunity to decorate pieces of driftwood that have been collected from one of our local beaches.  To start with we needed to undercoat the sticks with white paint before beginning to paint our designs on them.  We will keep you posted with more pictures during the painting process - but here are a few to show how we started......

Pacifica Ribbons: Green Table

All of our art this term is based on being 'Influenced by Culture'.  These are our second art pieces titled "PACIFICA RIBBONS".  We spent time looking at designs and patterns from Islands in the Pacific before deciding which ones we wanted to replicate on our 'ribbons'.  We completed the art work by using blocks of colour in the background.
